Icon meme, take II

I picked up a fun icons meme from
sara_tanaquil! I did this once before, but I wanted to try again - and happily five different icons were picked from the first time.
Meme rules:
1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
Behind the cut are the ones
sara_tanaquil picked for me, with my comments!
I think I wanted this for some speficic purpose, and now I can't remember what it was (possibly that one brief ficlet I wrote). Anyway, I also just wanted to share my love for the Fruits Basket manga, still one of my absolute favourite shojo manga. Feeling a bit too lazy for colouring, I just looked for colour art by the mangaka (Natsuki Takaya) and picked this one because it shows all the three principal characters together. Ahh, they've all gone through such a lot...! But they all also grow so very much during the series from the interaction with each other and with others.
♥
One of my pics for expressing unbridled enthusiasm - and well-chosen, for that and more is how I feel about the movie it's from, Satoshi Kon's amazing Tokyo Godfathers, my favourite Christmas movie and one of my absolute favourite animated movie, which is about three homeless people in Tokyo finding an abandoned baby at Christmas Eve who decide to try looking for the baby's mother. Hana is a former drag queen and I think also supposed to be a trans woman, for all that she admittedly does follow several stereotypes on drag queens and okama. In any case, she's an engaging and memorable character who tends to set things in motion, has lots of agency and who I adore.
This is Serrende Lahil, a character from one of my original comics that I came up with years ago. She was born in 1882 and is likely i16-18 here. A young woman from a small town and a relatively sheltered background, who dreams of going out into the world and see all the things one day. I'm pretty sure she keeps a diary, which was why I used her name for my Livejournal account. Apparently it means something in Portuguese, but I didn't know that when I made up her name once upon a time (she's from a made-up country with a made-up Indo-European language). As for the icon, I suppose I just wanted to show a few of my OCs - plus, sometimes you just want icons no-one else would have, without using photos. ^_^
She's not actually that similar to me in personality, nor do we look alike. (She's not the most prominent character in the comic, either.) Sometimes I think I should change my LJ/DW/Tumblr name - only problem is, I have no clue to what.
This icon is for expressing fluff, contentness, affection, and comfort - and of course extra suitable for fanworks and comments about these two dorks. The picture is from a screencap from a lovely filler episode after Thriller Bark, where the ship is becalmed for days and Brook finds Nami's logbook and uses the time to get to know his new crew better, hearing some of their earlier adventures. There's a very sweet, serene scene where Brook plays his violin softly while the crew is half or fully asleep in the still sunlight; Luffy and Usopp, fishing together, lean on each other as they snore.
Back when I first got into One Piece online fandom, I was in the midst of reading Water 7 and was desperate to see Luffy & Usopp fluff like this - and after all this time, I'm still very vulnerable to it. Luffy + Usopp and Luffy/Usopp remains my favourite relationship in the series.
From the back cover of one of the Yotsuba& volumes, this is my chief go-to icon when it comes to encouragement and determination - Yotsuba Koiwai's gung-ho enthusiasm is very good for that! :D My "Ganbatte!" icon, as it were. This manga continues to be so good in its own very ideosyncratic way - and I still maintain that Yotsuba is the manga character who reminds me of Luffy the most. ^_^
These five were all made by me.
