Here's all my fanfiction so far, save a couple of anonfics.

For Gintama and other fandoms, fics are simply listed alphabetically within each fandom (except for Gintama tweetfics at the bottom of that section). Most Gintama fics I've written are shippy, with Gintoki/Katsura being the biggest ship.

For One Piece, the fics are sorted into three sections: shorter gen fics (under 1000 words), longer gen fics, and shippy fics regardless of length (though most are quite brief). The genfics are sorted alphabetically (apart from some short promptfics). Among the shippy fics, all pairings with two fics or more get its own subsection, while the rest are put into "Other pairings" at the bottom.

My AO3 page can be found here.

A giftfic for [personal profile] lasercat, who has also written one for me which has now been posted to AO3 here - a very funny, delightful, delicious Ginzura fic!

The two of us did a one-on-one Ginzura fic exchange, my first time doing that! It was very fun.

DISCLAIMER: the characters of Gintama belong to their creator Hideaki Sorachi. They are used here without permission for entertainment purpose only. This fanfic may not be used for profit in any way - this includes reposting it to any site with ads. In general it should not be reposted anywhere without my approval.

This fanfic is not to be used for any AI training.

Constructive criticism and any other feedback is very welcome.

Title: Old Friends Can Speak Nonsense Even Without Talking Out Loud
Fandom: Gintama
Pairing: Gintoki/Katsura
Rating: G
Word Count: Around 3375 as I'm posting, might change
Characters: Gintoki, Katsura, Kagura (and just barely Shinpachi)
Spoilers/setting: Really it's "standard Gintama time before the Shogun Asssassination Arc" though a stray remark places it after the Afro arc
Vibe: Sickfic, domestic, kinda fluffy. Mildly shippy
Summary: Gintoki has a bad cold. Katsura comes to visit. They can't banter as much as usual.

Katsura is definitely the type to stay in place with a cat sleeping in his lap, even when his legs start to go numb )

And one final time - God jul/Merry Christmas from me!

Katsura asks Gintoki for a date, using the lure of an (insincere) coupon and not much else.

he knews his target well )

One more piece of new fanart, originally a Christmas card. Gintoki and Katsura in Heian outfits.

For the 28th and antepenultimate post in this set, I give the morning glory to Sakamoto!

What's the story here? Well, in Japanese flower symbolism, this flower (Ipomea nil, 朝顔) is associated with 'willful promises'.
This just seems perfect for Sakamoto to me! He's both a merchant trying to talk up his products-
-and a man with big ideas and dreams trying to persuade others to see things his way.
Sometimes, with less important things, he ends up disappointing his clients... But with the big things, he has the will to make his bold promises come true!

Zinnia for Mutsu!

The zinnia flower symbolizes 'loyalty' and 'endurance' in Japanese flower language. I like the unusual way it looks.

I thought it felt right for Mutsu the Diamond-Pebble Princess - tough and quirky and wonderful.

Going with red tulip for Kamui! This is another case where I'm just going with my own feelings. Officially tulips seem to only be symbols of uniformly good things - even symbols of perfection!
But for me tulips are handsome-looking flowers with an air of confidence, pride, ambition... and, perhaps, a bit of hubris as well.
I'm reminded of the famous Tulip Bulb Mania in the Netherlands in the 1630s, the speculative bubble that eventually collapsed into ruin and emptiness.

Still, tulips remain strong, popular flowers that are nice to look at, and who will bounce back after being struck down! With a bit of help.

Japanese Snake Gourd for Nobume!

The Japanese Snake Gourd is a fascinating plant with tall thin fruits. Its white flowers look very unique and bloom only at night.
Very beautiful, very unusual and strange. I think this flower fits Nobume well.

(The scientific name is either Trichosanthes cucumerina or Trichosanthes pilosa - there seems to be disagreement between Wikipedia and other websites on this point.)

For Isaburo Sasaki I pick the rare and highly prized Vanda falcata, also known as Samurai Orchid and Wind Orchid, which was once greatly admired by the shogun Tokugawa Ienari (1773-1837), leading to a great increase in popularity among the elite.

This elegant and expensive white flower, whose very shape seems hard to pin down, leaning this way and that, seems to fit this tricky character well.

Part 21 brings us to the Red Bullet of the Kiheitai. She gets the Rosa rugosa!

Also known as "beach rose" "Ramanas rose", "Japanese rose", and "wild rose", is native to Japan and other parts of East Asia.

It's a very tough and hardy bush plant with beautiful flowers, which grows well even on poor soil, and in salty air close to the sea.

Symbolism-wise, it's associated with love and adoration. It has prickles rather than thorns.

I chose the sweet pea for Bansai for two reasons: the shape of the petals remind some people of violins, which together with its strong but sweet scent
cause it to be associated with music. But the shape of the petals are also reminiscent of butterflies and moths, never inappropriate for a Kiheitai leader.
The purple sweet pea is associated with luxury, elegance, creativity, ambition, success, and admiration.

For a while I considered giving Otsu roses, since the promised gift of roses figure in her introduction episode and backstory with her convict father.

But while Otsu might enjoy roses, ultimately I wanted to give her the marigold instead. More precisely the field marigold, Calendula arvensis. A popular, widely spread, hard-working, adaptable, beautiful and glamourous flower with perhaps just a bit more brashness to it than the much-courted rose, it's associated with creativity, optimism, good luck, cheer and so on.

Zenzo the genius ninja gets a flower that's fond of climbing! Don't try this at home. :D
The clematis is associated with elegance and transformation.

Sunflowers for Kondo and Hinowa both!

Both these characters are strongly associated with the sun in Gintama. I wanted to give both of them the sunflower, that tall, beautiful, luminous flower. So I decided to put them together.
I don't think they ever interact in the series, nor do I know if either of them enjoy playing go, but why not?

It's probably some weird Amanto reason why the flowers are so huge wherever they happened to meet...

Picking a specific flower for Elizabeth is difficult because Elizabeth's whole thing is being inscrutable, unpredictable, and available for every weird gag. (Yet often less weird than Katsura!) So to settle for just one flower I needed to settle on a theme, and that theme was the "tourist in Hawaii" trope.

In that context I chose the beautiful plumeria flower, so colourful, striking and memorable. It's not native to Hawaii but has come to be associated with it now... Just like how Elizabeth is not native to Earth and Edo but has become not just an earthling but a samurai!

Plumeria have several different meanings in Hawaii, but among them are: new life, new beginnings, birth and creation.

Gintama Flower Suite, part 11: Okita and yellow rose

Yellow roses symbolize envy in Japanese flower symbolism. It's also a pretty, cool-looking flower!
I think it looks good for Sougo.

Kyubei gets white lily!

The white lily is associated with purity, nobility, royalty... and with yuri manga. I think it’s pretty perfect for Kyubei!
rainsometimes: Zoro smiles. Text: "Nice" (zoro approves)
For Hijikata I picked the harebell a.k.a Scottish bluebell (Campanula rotifundia, Swedish “blåklocka”), which is tough and resilient and associated with constancy and gratitude. Though it has darker associations too, like the underworld (Demonic Vice Commander)… However, it doesn’t have thorns, and Hijikata is a Thorny, so that was an oversight on my part! I didn’t realize this until I was almost done painting, and I confess I like the harebells a bit too much after all to do it all over again. But in retrospect, maybe a thistle or a blue rose would have suited him even better, because of the thorns...

In my defence, he is gazing at his beloved mayo here, so he is sure to be in a softer mood than usual!

Carnations for Sachan! In Japanese symbolism they can stand for "love, fascination and distinction". Sachan is certainly a ninja of distinction, and her obsessive love for Gintoki covers the rest - but more than this, I've long associated the carnation with passionate love, even more than the red rose. Not sure where I've picked that up, but it's stayed with me. Carnations also seem a bit quirkier than roses, somehow... so it just seems right for her!
rainsometimes: Katsura from Gintam (surprised zura)
Wisteria for Katsura!

I could have gone with hydrangea too, a popular choice with Japanese fan artist, and for good reasons - it’s associated with Japan and the month of June, and fits well symbolically. Wisteria also fits well though, I think, being associated with nobility and constancy; and the very shape of those hanging blossoms, looking gentle and flowing. make me think of the rainy season. Plus, the Swedish name for wisteria is “blåregn” (lit. ‘bluerain’). It just gives me a Katsura-like feeling. ❤❤❤
