rainsometimesPicking a specific flower for Elizabeth is difficult because Elizabeth's whole thing is being inscrutable, unpredictable, and available for every weird gag. (Yet often less weird than Katsura!) So to settle for just one flower I needed to settle on a theme, and that theme was the "tourist in Hawaii" trope.
In that context I chose the beautiful plumeria flower, so colourful, striking and memorable. It's not native to Hawaii but has come to be associated with it now... Just like how Elizabeth is not native to Earth and Edo but has become not just an earthling but a samurai!
Plumeria have several different meanings in Hawaii, but among them are: new life, new beginnings, birth and creation.
