rainsometimesI've posted something like this to Tumblr before, but I've changed my mind a little since and also for some reason wanted the list, ephemeral though the order is, in some place where I could find it more easily.
First I need to say that I do adore all Gintama openings, and find it amazing how solid they are, how well the animation producers picked them. In a long-running series with multiple openings like these, even if no opening is bad, at least a few tend to be more ho-hum. But for Gintama, no. (The Gintama ending themes, now, which there are more of, include a few that I do find ho-hum. As well as some absolute stellar ending themes that I love more than many of the openings, plus plenty that are just plain Good.)
I'm pretty sure about the top five openings on my list, but I still hesitate when it comes to sorting the top three internally.
All the other song placements are pretty fluid. I'd say the ones ranked 15-21 are all roughly the same category, which you could say is "very good opening that I love, but I never thought of it as the best one". The ones ranked from 8 to 14 are an uncertain jumble that constantly change place in my appreciation. I guess their category could be described as "amazing opening! I'm just unsure of how to rank it relative to the others which are also amazing!". Except for "Pray", which is roughly, "I know it's not the best one, but I just adore it."
