Happy Birthday, scribe_protra!

I have, not one, but TWO birthday pics for you! :D Uh, the colours in both turned out kinda wonky, though.









(This one comes directly from a manga panel when the crew arrives at Angel Beach on Skypiea. Luffy and Usopp are seen way off in the distance as Zoro and Robin talk on the ship: I just zoomed in on them, sort of - of course it doesn't look quite like Oda, but I did my best! ;))

These are really nice! It's a great contrast between the introspective-seeming Usopp in the first one and the ridiculously happy and fun feeling of the second!

I may have decided to do the second because the first was a bit too subdued on its own. ;) (I was actually just browsing through the volume to look for beach art and then I just noticed that panel and wanted to do something with it.)

Oh, thanks! The colouring looked better in my head, though. I haven't been able to make computer colouring work for me, for the most part, so usually I have to do it by hand first and then try to fix up the messes in PhotoShop. (There's always messes. ;))

You know, your icon just reminds me all over again how great Oda can be at drawing body language. So natural and perfect. *sighs with admiration* If only there wasn't all that fanservice...!

Thoughtful!Usopp's bare feet made me grin. Plus, I always like the pensive hands-in-pockets pose. And I really like how the treeline colours are mixed together there. Watercolour is very mysterious to me (real OR digital, really) so yeah.

Second pic made me go :D :D :D, and I think you did a great zoom-in. They're obviously having a blast, lol.

I struggled mightily with those feet, let me tell you! ...but it just seemed like he'd take his shoes off. (Actually, I tend to make Usopp take his shoes off a lot. I guess because bare feet=feeling easy and carefree for me?)

Hee, thanks! I've noticed Oda's great with drawing tiny figures way off in the distance with strangely expressive body language. Maybe I'll do more zoom-ins some day. ;)
