Bony fluff and silly dialogue

There will most likely be less frequent posts here in the near future, as I just today signed a contract to work as an archival assistent for ten months. Assuming I pass the security background check - and I can see no reason why I shouldn't; there aren't really any skeletons in my closet far as I know - I begin work in two weeks. The salary's pretty low, a good deal lower than my last one which wasn't particulaly high either; and it's paid on an hourly basis, thus different each month. That kinda sucks. But it's enough to live on, and better than unemployment pay. (And I've grown very tired of being unemployed after several months of it.)

Speaking of skeletons, I finished another OP pic yesterday:




Still not satisfied with Brook. I still can't figure out how Oda manages to indicate so many different emotions on that skull of his (shakes head in wonder).

Luffy would make a pretty good Huck Finn, I think.



Now for some silly stuff inspired by a detail in the dialogue in One Piece chapter 495:



Usopp is standing by the railing in a slumped posture, chin in his hand, looking out at the horizon with a gloomy
expression.

Usopp: (wistful sigh)

Luffy: Hey, Usopp...?

Usopp: ...

Luffy: (shouting in his ear) HEY! USOPP!

Usopp: GYAAAH!! Don't SHOUT like that, idiot! You could have busted my ear-drum!

Luffy: But you were wistfully sighing again!

Usopp: Oh...I did? Yeah...like I told you, it's nothing...I'm just feeling nostalgic...(Looks out at the sea again; sighs even more wistfully)

Luffy: You just said you were gonna stop doing that! Weren't we gonna play a fishing game??

Usopp: Oh, right...Yeah...Be with you in a minute. (Melancholy sigh)

Luffy: (crosses arms) Melancholy's no better!!

Usopp: ...Ah, don't worry. It's just that (sigh), y'know, Sanji hasn't done it in a looooong time. And not Nami either, really... (mumbles) I guess I haven't pissed them off enough lately...

(At this point Chopper turns up, and starts listening to the other two with curiosity)

Luffy: (frowns) But if you miss it that much, I can start doing it!

Usopp: But you've never done it. So it would just be weird. It wouldn't be the same at all.

Luffy: Humph.

Chopper: Done what?

Usopp: (not noticing Chopper) And I don't really miss it either, it's just...just something you grow used to and then it's not really there anymore, y'know?

Luffy: But if you DON'T miss it, why does it matter??

Usopp: (bangs fist on railing) It DOESN'T matter!! I said I'm just feeling nostalgic!!

Luffy: That's just stupid! Anyway, what about Robin? She used to do it all the time!

Usopp: Yeah, but haven't you noticed that she stopped completely a while back? And not just with me, but with everyone.

Luffy: (blinks) Oh yeah! That's right!

Chopper:(more and more puzzled) What are you guys talking about? Tell me, tell me!

Luffy: Oh, hiya, Chopper! Ah, don't worry. It's nothing serious.

Usopp: (extra wistful sigh, slumps even further) And now even Franky has stopped doing it...I dunno, it just seems so weird, how it is all of a sudden...

Chopper: (wails) What IS it?? Doing WHAT?? Can't you TELL me?? (clings to Luffy's knees and makes puppy eyes at him)

Luffy: Usopp's just feeling down 'cause nobody's calling him 'Longnose' anymore.

Usopp: (moan)

Chopper: O.o

Heh heh. Glad you enjoyed them both!

I've long figured Usopp to be rather proud of his nose. So maybe he would miss his old nickname...Or maybe it's just sheer crack. Either way, was fun to write! :D
