Here are some pics inspired by your lovely fic A Fortress For This One Night. Not a faithful illustration, though, as you can see - rather than dropping off while still holding Luffy, the crew's more spread out and have gotten blankets, sleepwear etc. So it's not the same situation, but perhaps a similar one.

(I'm posting this late at night feeling rather tired, so odds are I may have missed something while photoshopping. Please let me know any egregious mistakes and/or something's tough to make out.)

Oh, and the images read left to right - no matter how many manga I read, this is just how my mind works, still.





The amorphous thing on top of Zoro's swords is meant to be Chopper's hat seen from above, where you can't make out the X.

*hugs back!!* Oh wow, that's so great to get a response like that - and yes, I was trying to do something like that, a warm hug on the screen, but at first I was fumbling for art ideas and it was your own fic that saw me through. That was, after all, something I really wanted to see happening, too. You're an inspirator! :DD

Yeah... when I drew this I was hoping it would happen in a few weeks from there, manga-time and RL!

Seriously, letting Luffy lose his brother and then delay the reunion with the crew for two years still feels so cruel to him, no matter how much it makes sense in plot terms etc. If only they'd been able to meet and then train to get stronger together- ! *deep sigh*
