Ranma 1/2: One Page Per Volume, Part Three

The art has been flipped by good old Studio Proteus, hired by Viz Media, and so it reads from left to right.
This is taken from Ranma vs Kodachi, the glorious Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics fight where Ranma had to fill in for Akane who'd injured her ankle, preparing for the fight by squabbling with Ryoga, who was supposed to train him but wanted to sabotage him instead. This was not just because he's still at the "hate everything about Ranma" stage, but the fight was supposed to be over Ranma, or at least Kodachi put it that way. (Akane had been roped into it by classmates on the school's Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics team, who were upset that Kodachi had taken out the whole team one by one before the fight via ambush.) We never got an explanation why Ryoga was so well-versed in Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics, considering regular Rhythmic Gymnastics is widely regarded as a female-only sport. (Not true today, but it might have been when the story was made... but in any case, the martial arts version in Ranmaverse could be different!) I always figured he had some female cousin or other who was into it.
Honestly, Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics looks really entertaining to watch! (Couldn't something like this exist in RL?) It’s too bad that by my own rules I can’t show the preceding page as well, where Kodachi snags her brother Tatewaki Kuno to wield as a weapon against Ranma, thus leading into the panel at the top where commentator and judges/linewomen declare this a valid attack according to the rules of the sport. This is one of my favourite instances of Takahashi’s deadpan humour.
