Part 6 of the flower suite: Primrose for Hasegawa

I was surprised to learn that the primrose is a symbol of despair in Japanese flower symbolism. I have always thought of it as a lovely flower exuding a kind of gentle cheer... (Though it turned out that the flower I was thinking of - known as gullviva in Swedish - is more commonly called 'cowslip' in English. The actual primrose flower looks a bit different. But I actually didn't learn that until after I had finished this drawing! 😅)

Nevertheless! There's still a dichotomy involved, with primrose or cowslip... but I think that honestly fits Hasegawa. Sympathetic but spurned by fate, tough yet despairing, yet struggling on, yet still kind to others... When will Madao bloom? 🥺
