I wrote a Gintoki/Katsura poem from Gintoki's POV. No spoilers, and very vague on details in fact, but I guess I think of it as being written at some point past the mid-point of canon but before the final arc kicks into gear.
it will happen one day
i think we both know it
one day i will fall
into your waiting arms
crazy and tender
you dumb dour marvel
if we live that long
if we make it that far
eaten up by our ghosts
consumed by the future
i'll let go of the barriers
i'll forget all those boundaries
both yours and mine
(yours are neater, more careful, like the tracks of birds,
but controlled like tight coils)
(mine are sheer stupid stone walls)
i will breathe out, three times,
and i'll grasp you, and lean
my head towards yours
you'll grow quiet for once
hold me closer
my utter exhaustion
will flow into you
till we're equally weak
till we're equally strong
only bound by our skin
by the width of our pen lines
it's not strength that i'll need
i think we both know it
one day i will keep
myself close to you
your skin on my skin
i'll steal what i can
you'll take what you must
i'll tell you to sleep
while i guard you
let go of the darkness
let go of the light
feel the lingering warmth
of my hand in yours
i’ll be faceless and nameless
bumping up against you
like two boats on the pier
it will happen one day
i think we both know it
if we live for that long
if our breaths take us there
i’ll lean against you
we’ll be held
it will happen one day
i think we both know it
one day i will fall
into your waiting arms
crazy and tender
you dumb dour marvel
if we live that long
if we make it that far
eaten up by our ghosts
